For a child from a less privileged household, education usually ends for reasons that have nothing to do with ability: a fee that cannot be met, a uniform that cannot be bought, an examination registration that is missed. When a father dies the risk rises sharply, and the eldest children are often the first to be withdrawn so that the younger ones can continue.

We work through schools, head teachers and community leaders to identify children whose education is genuinely at risk, and we cover the specific costs that would otherwise end it: school fees, uniforms, sandals, books and writing materials, and examination registration. Support is paid through the school rather than as cash, confirmed with the family, and followed up each term so that a child helped in one term is still in class in the next.
